What is Facial Dermaplaning?

Facial dermaplaning is a scientifically proven skincare treatment that enhances your skin’s appearance.


During your facial, one of our board-certified professionals will gently use a scalpel to scrape away the top layer of your skin. This minimally invasive and pain-free procedure aims to remove dead skin cells, dirt, and oil from your skin.


As the blade moves across your skin, it removes the dead skin layer, revealing undamaged skin underneath. The procedure also exfoliates your skin, which helps prevent breakouts, improves complexion, stimulates cell turnover, and promotes new cell growth. 


Now, how often should you dermaplane? While some clients receive this treatment once every three to four weeks, we prefer to assess your skin during your consultation to provide you with a skincare routine that best aligns with your needs.

How often should I get Dermaplaning?

Many people receive dermaplaning once per month or in conjunction with another service.

What areas can be targeted with Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning can be done on almost any part of the body. It is typically done on the face and neck. Please ask your esthetician about any areas you would like to have dermaplaning and they can guide you on the proper session for each area.

What can I expect during my Dermaplaning session?

Your dermaplaning session will last approximately 30 minutes. You will lay back and the esthetician will perform the dermaplaning procedure using a professional grade sterile scalpel.

How long after dermaplaning can I wash my face?

It’s normal for your skin to feel sensitive and easily irritated following your dermaplane facial, so it’s advised to allow it time to rest and recover.


We recommend waiting at least four hours before washing your face. After a few hours, you can use warm water and a gentle cleanser. Avoid using harsh washcloths and exfoliants for at least two weeks.

How soon after dermaplaning can I wear makeup?

Makeup can irritate your skin, and applying it too soon after your session could cause infections or breakouts. To help prevent irritations, we advise waiting at least 24 hours before applying makeup to give your skin time to calm down and heal from the dermaplane facial.


Once you’ve allowed your skin time to recover, gently apply your makeup using soft sponges and makeup brushes.

How long does a dermaplane facial take?

Dermaplane facials are quick procedures that take an average of 20 to 30 minutes to complete. During your session, your service provider will review the treatment with you, answer your questions, prepare your skin for the treatment, and then begin the dermaplane facial.
