Dermaplaning: “Shaving” Your Way To Younger Skin

What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a medical grade method of exfoliation. It involves the use of a scalpel to closely “shave” the dead skin cells and vellus hair (or “peach fuzz”) off the surface of the skin. Unlike many chemical peels, this treatment requires no downtime or post-procedure peeling. (*It is also safe on pregnant and lactating women who cannot be exposed to strong chemicals).

What are the benefits of Dermaplaning?

The skin cycle renews itself every 28-42 days and slows down more and more with age. Dead and dry skin cells begin to pile up on the surface of the skin causing the skin to take on a dull, aging appearance. If left alone, dead skin cells and trapped oil can also begin to clog and enlarge the pores. A deep exfoliating treatment, like dermaplaning, speeds up cellular turnover resulting in smooth, refreshed skin with clear pores. In addition, the fine vellus hairs on the face can increase the likelihood of clogged pores, prevent at home products from penetrating the skin, and cause some to feel self conscious. Dermaplaning is unique compared to both microdermabrasion and chemical peels in that it safely removes this vellus hair.

How much does Dermaplaning cost?

A one-time-only dermaplaning treatment costs $110. However, our Skin Rejuvenation membership program allows clients to receive this treatment for just $55 per month. Under this membership, clients are able to consult with their esthetician and choose to get a microdermabrasion, an express facial, dermaplaning, an IPL photo facial, or one of our chemical peels at their monthly appointment. We can offer microneedling to our Skin Rejuvenation members for a small up-charge as well. If recommended, Skin Rejuvenation members can also come in once between their monthly treatments for an additional service at the same membership price. Given that the skin requires ongoing maintenance, our Skin Rejuvenation membership program is the most affordable way to achieve optimal results.
